The Foundation: A Creator God and His Law
We must remember and acknowledge that God is the Creator of all things. We did not come from monkeys or from a single cell that, over billions of years, evolved into a human. We did not come from a big bang; we are the creation of God. This false science is what the Bible calls "science falsely so called." Imagine if you went to a factory where all the parts of a car were laid out. What are the chances that if a tornado passed through, it would assemble a Toyota Hilux or a Mitsubishi L300 when all the parts came crashing down? The chance is zero. It is impossible.
Do you believe a human being is more complicated than a car? Our bodies are designed in a far more complex way. If a car gets a flat tire, you can replace it. If the engine breaks, you can replace it and it runs again. But with our body, if a hand is damaged, it’s gone—amputation. It is absurd to think that no God created man, because our design is so beautiful. Your face is not an accident; it was made on purpose. There is a God who created us.
This God who created us also set the rules for the universe. That is why there is good and evil, sin and righteousness. When we break His rules or disobey His commands, that is sin. And because of that, we are all guilty. Let us not hide or make excuses. You and I are guilty of sin, separated from God, and we carry a true moral guilt before the God who exists because we failed to follow His will.
The Solution: Justification Through Christ's Finished Work
Just as Adam and Eve disobeyed God, we too have disobeyed. The only thing sufficient to remove that guilt is the finished work of Christ on the cross of Calvary, something that truly happened in history, in space and time, about 2,000 years ago. In a court of law, you must serve your sentence to be free of your guilt. But when it comes to our sin, forever in Hell is not enough to pay for it. In Christ Jesus, however, what He did once was for all. It is finished.
The value of what Christ did is infinite and eternal. Remember, He is the second person of the Trinity—the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. On the cross, He was God, yet He became a man to die for our sins. You do not need to add anything to what He did. His work became the basis for our guilt to be removed when we come to Him and believe. The Bible says we are then "justified." This is a wonderful, legal word that means you are no longer guilty; you are cleared. If you have a debt of two million pesos that you cannot pay, you are guilty. But if someone pays it for you, you are cleared. We have a sin debt we could never pay, but Jesus Christ paid it for us.
